€2,000 Raised For Charity Thank You for Your Support

Simon Community Logo Shine Ireland

All the team in Carrigtwohill Pharmacy would like to extend a massive thank you to all those wonderfully generous people who supported and sponsored Ger who completed the Cork City Marathon during the June Bank Holiday weekend. (In style might we add).

This marathon was very special as Ger was running in aid of Cork Simon Community & Shine Ireland. Both are very worthwhile charities and all the donations made were greatly appreciated and will help to make a valuable difference to these charities.

We are delighted to announce that we raised an incredible €2,000! This amazing amount made all of Ger’s aches and pains after the marathon all worth it.

Carrigtwohill Community Council Strollers Plus+ Programme

We would like to take the opportunity tell all our customers in the Carrigtwohill community of a fantastic programme called the Strollers Plus + Programme, which is aimed at low level walkers with a view to preparing them to participate in the Carrigtwohill 5km Road race, which is being held on the 16 th July 2014.

The programme will take place every Tuesday 7.30pm – 8.30pm from 10th  June to 15th July. The meeting point will be outside the front door of the Carrigtwohill Community Centre. There is a €10 participation fee for the programme.

This is a very worthy programme  to be involved in as the participation fee will be put towards the purchase of a Community AED. The purchase of the AED is extremely important and will help to promote and secure the health and well-being of our community.

Everyone here in Carrigtwohill Pharmacy is delighted to promote the Strollers Plus+ Programme, as we are committed to helping the community live healthier and happier lives. Walking and running has many physical and mental health benefits and we would encourage as many of our customers as possible to get involved and get active. For more information on the benefits of walking, have a look at the link;

He would love to share his passion and knowledge with anyone who would like to get involved with the Stroller Plus+ Programme. So if you sign up, pop in and share your experiences with us.

Positive Changes for Carrigtwohill Pharmacy

Hi Everyone,

Here at Carrigtwohill Pharmacy, we take great pride offering excellent customer service  and unrivalled care. We are always looking for ways to improve and to make customer experiences in our pharmacy even better. We have recently conducted extensive research on our opening times and the needs of our customers. The results of our analysis have shown that over a prolonged period of time, there has been a consistent drop in the number of customers frequenting Carrigtwohill Pharmacy between the hours of 8 – 9 pm on  Mondays the night we stay open late.

Acknowledging the results and listening to the thoughts and opinions of our loyal customers, we are considering reducing the opening times of the pharmacy on Monday to 8 pm. We are also considering relocating this extra hour to a day or days (extra half an hour over two days) that all our customers will get the most benefit from.

Please leave your invaluable feedback in the comment box below or alternatively leave a comment on facebook, to help us decide whether this will be a positive change for the pharmacy and to see when YOU would like this extra time to be located. We are committed to building a service that is designed to make life easier for our customers and to ensure they get the service they want and deserve. All thoughts and opinions are warmly welcomed.

Ger nominated for the People’s Pharmacist of the Year Award

We are thrilled to announce, that our very own Ger Browne has been nominated for the People’s Pharmacist of the Year Award in the Irish Pharmacy News’ Irish Pharmacy Awards 2014 (http://www.pharmacynewsireland.com/irishpharmacyawards2014.html). The event is taking place on Saturday, May 24th in the Hilton DoubleTree Hotel in Dublin and will be hosted by RTE’s Miriam O’Callaghan.

The awards serve as a platform for the pharmacy industry’s professionals to be saluted for their innovation, determination and pursuit of excellence.

The People’s Pharmacist of the Year Award, is a very special award as it is sponsored and supported by the Jack and Jill Foundation (http://www.jackandjill.ie/). This is an incredibly worthwhile charity who provides nursing care and support for children with severe neurological development issues, as well as offering some respite to the parents and families. The foundation also provides direct funding to families, enabling them to buy home respite care. The foundation almost exclusively relies on donations to give these families the crucial help and support they deserve and need. Ger and all the team at Carrigtwohill Pharmacy are both honoured and proud to have one of our own family in the Pharmacy nominated for an award associated with such an amazing charity.

The nature of the People’s Pharmacist of the Year award is unique as it is aimed at giving the public a unique opportunity to nominate and praise their local pharmacist through Facebook and online. This promotion gives the public throughout Ireland a chance to share their stories of individual pharmacists and pharmacy businesses that have gone the extra mile for them, whilst further highlighting to an even wider-reaching audience awareness of this exceptional profession.

Ger Browne

The judges are looking for a pharmacist that has an outstanding relationship with the community, gives unparalleled advice and goes beyond the call of duty for their patients and customers. We feel Ger has all these traits and qualities and more. Everyday he treats all his customers and their families as if they are his own and instills in all the team the desire to deliver excellence in customer service at all times and ensure all our customers receive all the advice and help they need. (But we don’t let Ger know how amazing he is too often, just incase his head gets a little too big and we couldn’t be having that  😉 )

Ger is absolutely delighted and humbled to be nominated for such a prestigious award, along with so many excellent pharmacists throughout Ireland. He hopes to represent Carrigtwohill Pharmacy and all the Carrigtwohill Community as best as he possibly can. Plus, he looks for any old excuse to brush the dust of the old tuxedo for a night of glitz and glamour.

Ger would personally like to thank all the wonderful people in Carrigtwohill and the further community who took the time and effort to nominate him. He was really taken aback by all your kindness and support. It means so much to him to know that so many of Carrigtwohill Pharmacy’s customers value and are happy with the pharmacy’s service as we pride ourself on being “Your Family Pharmacy”. We promise to continue to

All the team at Carrigtwohill Pharmacy would like to wish Ger the very best of luck on Saturday at the awards. Enjoy every second of it. Win or not, we are all extremely proud of him.

Go team Ger!
